I was born and bred in Bradford, where the people are warm and friendly, resilient and funny. We have fantastic arts and culture, amazing architecture and stunning landscapes. As one of my photography heroes, Don McCullin, said: “I wish I’d been born in Bradford, and had its beautiful dialect and its warm relaxed attitude... Bradford’s full of energy and enthusiasm – an exciting, giant, visual city.” These images are part of an on-going labour of love to prove that it is definitely NOT grim up north. Taken around Bradford and other much maligned, but proud industrial cities and seaside towns, they capture the unique beauty and character of the urban landscape as well as the warmth, spirit and humour of the people.
